  2. [IPS Blog] Easier Documentation Search

    27 July 2010 - 08:08 PM

IPS is constantly looking for ways to improve, and one area of focus is documentation. We get a lot of feedback regarding documentation, and quite frequently the feedback we receive is, unfortunately, too vague to act on specifically. It's always a pleasant delight to get specific, focused feedback on how we can improve.

  4. [vBulletin News] Project Tools Open Source 2.0.1 for vBulletin 3.7.x/3.8.x Series

    22 July 2010 - 04:26 PM

We're glad to announce the release of Project Tools 2.0.1 for vBulletin 3.7.x/3.8.x as an open source community project. We see this as the natural step for the product. Control of the product will fall to the Project Tools team that has been doing updates to the PT 2.1.x Series product for vBulletin 4.x Series. They will continue to be focused on PT 2.1.x and as such, the likelihood for future PT 2.0.x version releases is minimal. However, they will oversee any future releases.

It is an open source product, so if you want to contribute to the project please visit the open source forum on vBulletin.org.

    Compatibility

vBulletin Project Tools 2.0.1 for vBulletin 3.7.x/3.8.x Series is compatible with both vBulletin 3.7.x Series and vBulletin 3.8.x Series. If you are using an expired older version of the 3.x Series you will need to purchase a vBulletin 4 Series License or a vBulletin 3.x 3 month maintenance pack in order to use Project Tools Open Source 2.0.1 with a vBulletin 3.7.x or 3.8.x license.

    Upgrading/Installing Project Tools

Upgrades and new installations of the Project Tools follow the same process: upload the files and import the XML. After this, you will see a message that your upgrade or install was successful. For full instructions on how to upgrade or install, please see this manual entry.
(Note: The download will come from vBulletin.org, not the members area as noted in the doc.)

    About Project Tools

Project Tools is a versatile add-on product that enhances vBulletin with project management functionality, empowering your community members to create projects, contribute to tasks, submit issues and view progress of projects. Seamless integration with vBulletin ensures maximum usability, and an administration suite within the vBulletin control panel allows full customization of projects, issues, tasks and user permissions.

Project Tools is ideal for any community that shares a common goal - from developing software, keeping track of servers, writing a play, exhibiting at a trade show or building a car!

Please see the original Project Tools 2.0.1 release announcement for further information on the product.

    License

Project Tools Open Source 2.0.1 for vBulletin 3.7.x/3.8.x is released under the vBulletin Open Source License.

    Download

vBulletin Project Tools 2.0.1 for vBulletin 3.7.x/3.8.x Series is on vBulletin.org here.

  5. [vBulletin News] Security Patch Release 3.8.6 PL1

    21 July 2010 - 06:03 PM

It has come to our attention that 3.8.6 contains a security exploit related to the FAQ. If you have already installed vB 3.8.6, then follow these instructions in order to fix this:

    1. First, download the 3.8.6 PL1 patch here:

    http://members.vbull...com/patches.php

    2. Delete the existing vbulletin-language.xml file from your 'install' directory. Then upload the new one to that directory. Make sure you upload this in ASCII format.

    3. Next upload the two files in that patch:

    includes/version_vbulletin.php
    install/vbulletin-language.xml

    4. Go into your Admin CP and run this:

Admin CP -> Languages & Phrases -> Download/Upload Languages -> Import Language XML File

Then leave the settings as they are and click on Import.

Also please note that if you have not upgraded to 3.8.6 yet, the download has already been patched.
